Derbyshire Businesswoman Wins Top Award

Young businesswoman, Jennie Mills, franchisee for Rainbow International Derbyshire, has been named Young Female Franchisee of the Year, at the 2019 bfa HSBC Franchise Awards.

The award was presented at a glittering ceremony on June 27 at the Vox in Birmingham.

Jennie, 27, from Derbyshire, entered franchising without any business experience four years ago after a career scubadiving on Hollywood blockbusters, and since has become one of the stand out franchisees in the network.

The franchise, Rainbow International is a disaster recovery and specialist cleaning services company.

Jennie said:

“It feels amazing to be recognised for this prestigious award by some of the biggest franchising experts. Since taking on the franchise, I have grown the business, added more staff, and moved to a larger premises. I also help new franchisees in the Rainbow International network by imparting my knowledge to them, and I have seen sustained growth since becoming a franchisee.”

This year, the Young Franchisee of the Year award was split into two - male and female, highlighting recent statistics that show more young people are becoming franchisees than ever before.

Pip Wilkins, CEO of the British Franchise Association, stated:

“All three of the females shortlisted were incredible, but Jennie, at such a young age, and with no franchising experience, has not only managed to make a real success from her business but also upskill her team and invest in them, too.”

Andy Brattesani, UK Head of Franchising at HSBC, says:

“I am very pleased that the decision was made to split this category into two. We got to hear from more young franchisees who will be shaping this industry and give them the opportunity to be recognised for the hard work they have shown to reach this point. Jennie has proven to be a savvy businesswoman and I look forward to seeing what she achieves in the coming years.”

Jennie won the award ahead of Charlotte Eames, a franchisee for The Creation Station, and Victoria Rigby, a franchisee for Home Instead Senior Care.
